Body

Is the human body an accident? No, you were created in the image of God. It's in the Bible, Genesis 1:27, NKJV. "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."

With just dirt, God formed and gave life to man. It's in the Bible, Genesis 2:7, NKJV. "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being."

The human body is an incredible creation of God. It's in the Bible, Psalm 139:14, NKJV. "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.

What am I worth? You were redeemed with the priceless and pure blood of Christ. It's in the Bible, 1 Peter 1:18-19, NKJV. "knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot"

Can I do what I want, it is my body? Your body belongs to God and serves as a temple of the Holy Spirit. It's in the Bible, I Corinthians 6:19-20, NKJV. "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."

Our bodies are part of our service and worship to God. It's in the Bible, Romans 12:1, NKJV. "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service"

We honor God by taking care of our bodies - what you put in it matters. It's in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 10:31, NKJV. "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

God did not intend for tattoos or mutilating your body. It's in the Bible, Leviticus 19:28, NKJV. "You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the LORD.

Cutting oneself was a pagan religious custom. It's in the Bible, 1 Kings 18:28, NKJV. "So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them."

Christ presented himself as a sacrifice without blemish. It's in the Bible, Hebrews 9:14, NKJV. "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"

Christ is our example. It's in the Bible, 1 Peter 2:21, NKJV. "For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps"

In marrige, physically your body belongs to your spouse. It's in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 7:2-4, NIV. "But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife."

Sexual immorality also defiles our body. It's in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 6:18, NKJV. "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"

After death our bodies will be brought back to life. It's in the Bible, I Corinthians 15:42, 51-53, TLB. "Our earthly bodies which die and decay are different from the bodies we shall have when we come back to life again, for they will never die. . . . We shall all be given new bodies! It will all happen in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. . . . For our earthly bodies, the ones we have now that can die, must be transformed into heavenly bodies that cannot perish but will love forever.”

The body is an example of how the church should function. It's in the Bible, Romans 12:4-5, NIV. "Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."
